University of the Fraser Valley


The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), (some time back known as University College of the Fraser Valley and Fraser Valley College) is a Canadian state supported school with grounds in Abbotsford, British Columbia. La Trobe University, Australia offers La Trobe's Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES) which cover tuition fees for high-achieving international students accepted into undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs. Worth between $10,000 and $20,000, these scholarships are paid across a maximum of two semesters (or 12 months).

If you receive this scholarship, you still need to pay for any difference in fees for your first two semesters, fees for the rest of your course, and your Overseas Student Health Cover. To continue receiving your scholarship into your second semester, you must maintain a C grade average.

Who is eligible?
You must be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand and be applying to start an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program. You must also have scored 85% or equivalent in your previous degree/award, and meet our English language and academic entry requirements. You are not eligible if you are starting a Higher Degree by Research, exchange program, Study Abroad program, ELICOS and Foundation Studies program, or Diploma course.

Scholarships Details
International Postgraduate Scholarships are available to postgraduate degree applicants and are worth half the tuition fees (e.g. 50% discount on fees, for 2014/15 intake this amounts to between £2,900 and £5,400). The number of International Postgraduate Scholarships available annually is five. International Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded by the decision of the University Committee and are based on academic merit and social and community involvement.

Criteria

How to apply
Applicants must hold an offer of admission for a Liverpool Hope postgraduate taught degree programme and complete the International Scholarship Application Form with attached documentation (eg copy of final degree certificate and academic reference).

If you do not hold an offer of admission you are not eligible.

The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship promotes educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity. The AU EGL is dedicated to positive civic and social change, and will return home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in his/her home country.

Scholarship Value
The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition, room and board) for one international student who will need a visa (preferably an F-1 or J-1 student visa) to study in the United States. The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets and miscellaneous expenses (approximately US$4,000).

The AU EGL scholarship is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, based on continued satisfactory academic performance. 
Important: Only one AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is available for fall 2015. If you are not selected as the 2015 AU EGL recipient and wish to continue the application process, you may be eligible for partial merit scholarships. However, you will need to submit proof of additional funds beyond the initial US$4,000 you provided. Estimated costs for the 2015-2016 academic year are US$59,780. 

You are NOT eligible to apply if:
> You are a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or dual citizen of the U.S. and another country.
> You are enrolled in or have already begun any post-secondary studies at another university.
AU EGLS candidates must apply Regular Decision for fall (August) 2015.
Preference will be given to:
> International students who have overcome various obstacles and challenges as well as those from diverse and underrepresented global and socioeconomic backgrounds.
> A minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent (or in the top 10% of graduating class) for 9th-12th grades.

Basic eligibility requirements
Eligible students must be enrolled full-time in research-based graduate degree programs at the University of Waterloo and hold a valid Canadian study permit. Students must meet the academic progress requirements of their program, and not have outstanding probationary admission requirements, or be concurrently receiving external awards or sponsorships.

Master’s students
International graduate students registered full-time in a MA, MASC, MES, MFA,MMATH OR MSC degree program will receive an IMSA valued at $1,755 per term (the value is approximate to one-half of the differential fee per term) for 2 years (up to term 6.0).

Doctoral students
International graduate students registered full-time in a research-based PhD program will receive an IDSA valued at $3,510 per term (the value is approximate to the full differential fee per term) for 3 years (up to term 9.0).

Doctoral year 4 support (admitted from a master's degree)
International graduate students registered full-time in a research-based PhD program and who were admitted from a master's degree will receive an International Doctoral Student Award Year 4 (IDSA4) valued at $3,510 per term (the value is approximate to the full differential fee per term) for year 4 (terms 10 to 12) and will be funded as follows:

> 2/3 from University/Faculty (1/3 from each) totalling $2,340 per term as an award (IDSA4)
> 1/3 from the supervisor/department in the amount of $1,170 per term as an award (example, as GRS, UW scholarship, etc.)
